Frequently asked questions

Is Postpoint free to use?

Downloading the app and looking up, saving, or sharing a Digital Address Code (DAC) is free, with no subscription required. An optional annual certification fee applies if you want your specific address formally certified and verified in the national registry — certification is required to register a secure lockbox for package delivery.

What is a Digital Address Code (DAC)?

A DAC is a unique code assigned to every 5×5 meter square across Cameroon, Chad, and the Central African Republic — including rural areas, forests, and water bodies with no formal address. Example: DL5-0477-2375, made of a 3-letter subdivision prefix and a sequential grid reference.

Does Postpoint work without internet?

Yes. Addresses generate and resolve fully offline. Lockbox verification runs locally and communicates via 2G SIM/SMS when needed, syncing to the cloud automatically once a connection is available.

What's the difference between certifying an address and getting a lockbox?

Certification is self-serve and doesn't require any hardware — you're formally registering and verifying your address for an annual fee. A lockbox is an optional physical add-on for secure package delivery, deployed at CAMPOST postal hubs, and requires an existing certified address to register.

Can multiple people share one address?

Yes. Apartment buildings and compounds can share a single base DAC with individual unit extensions (e.g. Apt 3B). Each resident registers their own phone number under the shared address.

How do I access Postpoint without a smartphone?

Dial #237*555# from any network in Cameroon to find, verify, and register addresses via USSD — no smartphone or data plan required.

Where is Postpoint available?

Full national coverage across Cameroon, with active expansion into Chad and the Central African Republic under the CEMAC regional framework.

Can I integrate Postpoint into my own product?

Yes. Search, detailed search, and reverse-geocoding APIs are live today. Contact us for API access and documentation.

Is my data safe?

Data is encrypted in transit and is not shared with third parties. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting go@postpoint.cm.
